Misirlou for String Quartet
Misirlou for String Orchestra
I’m always inspired by the idea of transforming well-known themes into new musical settings, and this arrangement of Misirlou is a personal tribute to that creative process. I love reimagining songs through the lens of styles I deeply enjoy, especially the rich, expressive world of classical string writing. This adaptation for string orchestra and string quartet is my way of exploring how genre boundaries can be blurred. To me, creativity is not about fitting into categories—it’s about offering a fresh, sometimes even contradictory perspective that reveals new dimensions of familiar music. Misirlou is a perfect example of a piece whose core energy can shine in many forms. The orchestral version was recorded by the renowned conductor András Deák and performed by the exceptional Budapest Art Orchestra. I was also fortunate to hear it come to life in live performances by various string ensembles in Greece—an experience that means the world to me.
I am especially grateful to: Dzio (Giannis Georgountzos), graphics designer, for the cover design, visual editing of the credits in the PDF, and the videos and,
Irini Kolovou – Fine Art Photography, beloved artist-photographer, for capturing my inner self in her photos.
If you’re a musician or just curious about the music, I’m happy to share the score, whether you’d like to perform it, study it, or simply enjoy a deeper look into the arrangement. Just reach out!
Thank you for listening, and I hope this version offers a fresh and respectful take on a legendary tune.
